Like Tony Agpaoa, David Elizalde and his wife Helen are well known Filipino psychic surgeons, so popular in fact that the American Christian Travel Centre organized tours for plane-loads of patients to fly to the Philippines for their operations. The promoters advertise that there is no charge for the service but add that the Philippine healers are extremely religious and poor and a generous donation would be appreciated on the final day of treatment. Due to adverse publicity generated by American courts of law who ruled that psychic surgery was a fraud, the tours from America were banned and recommenced from Australia.

Although psychic surgeons have on occasions been exposed as frauds employing sleight of hand tricks, there have been inexplicable cases of inoperable tumors going into remission and stories of diseases cured. There is little doubt that given the right environment, in some cases the power of suggestion does work miracles.
