A STRANGE TRUTH(Investigator 34, 1994 January)
The writer of an article in Awake! (1993 November 22 pp. 20-23) told of his conversion to Jehovah's Witnesses.
The book which influenced him most was Creation (1927).
He says (in Awake!): "I could not put the book Creation down. 'This is surely the truth,' I said to myself."
The book Creation contains a great many "truths" any of which would get a JW disfellowshipped were he to preach them today.
These include:
- Christ returned in 1874. (p. 310)
- 1799 A.D. "…definitely marks the beginning of the 'time of the end'";
- Christ died on a "cross". (pp. 203; 209; 246)
The Watchtower Society gets away with calling its old books "truth" although they are riddled with errors because the books have been removed from most Kingdom Hall libraries and therefore rank and file JWs cannot verify the contents.
