THE TIME IS NEAR

(Investigator 157, 2014 July)

"And he [Jesus] said, "Beware that you are not led astray; for many will come in my name and say … 'The time is near!' Do not go after them. (Luke 21:8 NRSV)

The Watchtower Library (2007) CD lists the phrase "the time is near" 57 times, of which 55 apply to Armageddon or the paradise afterwards.

For example:

the time is near at hand for Jehovah’s own great wrath to come upon the earth…
(Watchtower 1953 2/1 91)

If it is his purpose to have this beautification of the whole earth accomplished by the end of his seventh creative day—Scripturally a period of seven thousand years, then the time is near at hand for the ruining of the earth by exploiters to be stopped by theocratic power and for the blessed transformation to a delightsome garden to begin.
(Paradise Restored To Mankind By Theocracy 1972, 18)

The Bible shows that the time is near when he, through Jesus Christ, purposes to clean out all opposers of his righteous rule over the earth.
(Awake! 1974 11/8 8)

The time is near for God and Jesus Christ to execute final judgment on Satan’s world system.
(Revelation Its Grand Climax At Hand!  1988, 17)

The time is near when the elderly who have exercised faith in God and have served him will once again enjoy youthful vigor—but this time forever!
(Awake! 2002 06, 9)

The Bible reveals that the time is near when God will eliminate the wicked world during his war of Armageddon.
(What Does The Bible Really Teach? 2005, 32)

We rejoice that the preaching of the good news on such a vast scale is but one of the many indications that the time is near for God’s Kingdom to replace human governments.
(Watchtower 2006 2/1 26)

The CD has The Watchtower from 1950 onwards and other JW publications from 1970.

New converts to JWs fail to discern or heed Jesus'  command "Do not go after them" in Luke 21:8 because the JW Bible says "the due time has approached."
